June 2018 marks the 40th year of The Alice Cross centre in St James Precinct, Bitton Park road. To celebrate this, we will be holding several events, the first being on the 9th of June at the St James Community Day. We are delighted to welcome Reverend Roderick who at 10am will re-bless the building after it was originally blessed by Rev Arthur W. Rose BA on the 11th of June 1977, before our official opening on the 6th of July 1977 by the then chair Thomas L Hockin Esq.
The Alice Cross is at the heart of the St James community, and we would like to celebrate with our neighbours and build on a sense of community that is central to Teignmouth culture. The St James community day will be a celebration of the people, traders and community groups who share this space in the shadow of the historic St James Church. We hope to make this an annual event to raise money towards improving some of the local space, install a community notice board and much more.
The day will be packed full of family friendly activities including a Treasure Trail, Lego play in the Library, Face Painting and much more. We will also be hosting a craft stall in St James church, along with some of our neighbours. There will also be dancing and refreshments for everyone to enjoy. We look forward to working with our neighbours to make the day special for all the community.
The St James community day is on the 9th of June, please come along and join us for this wonderful celebration of community and all things St James!
