The Alice Cross centre is a vibrant, active community centre focusing health and well-being. Our mission is to Support the community by making later life a fulfilling and enjoyable experience.

We are a small Teignmouth based charity who rely on the hard work and incredible dedication of our amazing team of volunteers.  We have a variety of volunteering opportunities suitable for everyone.  These opportunities include Working in our bar/coffee shop, Meeting and Greeting, Serving lunches, driving, Office administration, fundraising, IT skills, Kitchen help (Cooking and preparing food, helping with washing up), running events and activities, helping at table-top sales. If you have a skill, then we have a role to match!

Whether you can spare an hour or even 10 hours a week we would love to hear from you.

We are in particular need for people who can help in the following roles:

Meal Delivery Drivers

We deliver delicious, home made, hot food to people at home 3 days a week.  Lunches are served between 12- 1pm, Mondays, Thursdays and Friday or Sundays.

All addresses are in Teignmouth and we have routes to suit delivery by car or by foot. Our delivery team usually start at 11.30am and are finished by 1.30pm.

All expenses will be paid and you also get half price off all meals at the centre!

Table Top Event Co-ordinators

We are a small charity that relies on donations and grants to be able to do the work we do.  We regularly take part in Table-Top events within the community.  We always need volunteers to co-ordinate the days, serve at the stalls, keep the area clean and tidy and clear of clutter and help with setting up and packing away.  Our table top events are always fun, and they are an important opportunity for us to showcase the Alice Cross within our community.

Volunteer Grant writer

The Alice Cross Centre is a charity which relies heavily on grants to be able to run our daily activities.

We are seeking a volunteer Grant writer to assist our team in achieving our mission to:

Support the community by making later life a fulfilling and enjoyable experience

And our Vision to be a:

Community centre of choice for improved health and wellbeing for all.

This is an unpaid/volunteer position with a flexible schedule.

Work can be completed at the centre, or we can provide you with a lap-top to be able to work from home.

Duties would include:

  • Assisting with grant research, fundraising, and proposal processes
  • Preparing proposals and supporting documents
  • Preparing and updating a calendar of grants
  • Maintaining records in our database, including grant tracking and reporting.
  • Identifying data needs
  • Identifying any other grants or funding opportunities
  • Working with the General manager and Administration staff

Preferable requirements:

  • Excellent writing and administrative skills
  • Familiarity with proposals and grant narratives
  • Confident computer skills
  • Confident communication skills
  • A passion and interest in the work we do

 

Hospitality team

The Alice Cross is a vibrant community hub, with lots of activities and events happening all year round.  We are always in need of friendly customer facing volunteers who can carry out various hospitality roles.  Full training and support will be provided.

Day-to-day duties of the hospitality team may include:

  • Working in our reception area,  meeting and greeting and ensuring all visitors sign at the door.
  • Providing information about the centre and our activities
  • Carrying out housekeeping duties
  • Serving food and drinks front of house

Kitchen support

The Alice Cross serves meals to the community throughout the week.  Our Kitchen Manager, Dave, works along side a team of kitchen support volunteers to serve delicious and nutritious hot meals delivered to the home and served in the centre. Duties would include preparing food for the chef, light cooking, baking cakes and washing-up and cleaning down the kitchen.  Full traning and support will be provided.
