Creating a buzz at Teignmouth Carnival

Alice Cross at the Teignmouth Carnival

We had a great day taking part in the Teignmouth Carnival procession on the afternoon of the 31st July. It was exciting and uplifting as our volunteers and staff took their place in the parade around the town, starting at the Den. Our theme was bees…buzzing around, working together and bee(ing) kind, in keeping with our ethos of being active in our community.

Carnival committee judges observed all the participating groups during the event, we were thrilled to be awarded not one but three separate awards for our efforts. You can see them below, click to enlarge.

Our manager Peta led the procession on the day, she said:

“”I am absolutely bursting with pride following our triple success at Teignmouth Carnival! A huge thank you to the Teignmouth Carnival Committee for their incredible hard work in bringing this brilliant event back to our town, seeing so many people out and about, enjoying the atmosphere, was just fabulous. I am so very proud of our amazing volunteers and staff, whose enthusiasm, creativity, and sheer joy shone through in everything they did. They truly are outstanding ambassadors for The Alice Cross Centre.”

The sun shone for us all. The spectators lining the route cheered us on, with many donating to the Carnival collection along the route. We took our place in the procession and it was great to be alongside all the other groups taking part. We also sang our song about the Alice Cross centre that was composed for the occasion, we had to sing loudly to get over the background noise of the fairground!

It was a great afternoon full of positivity and heart-warming support from all the spectators and other groups taking part. We look forward to our next procession at Dawlish Carnival on Friday evening. Do look out for our dragon!

Lastly, thanks to Yvonne, Fran, Alison, Sue and our team of creative volunteers who pulled it all together, and especially Caroline and Deborah for their colourful costumes and continuous dancing in the street! Bring it on Dawlish 🙂
