“Diva Fever” Dazzles Sold-Out Crowd at Alice Cross Centre

Last Saturday, the Alice Cross Centre was filled to capacity as “Diva Fever” took the stage, delivering an unforgettable evening of musical entertainment. The dynamic duo of Peta and Jenny transformed the venue into a glittering showcase of legendary diva performances that had the audience on their feet.

The talented performers paid homage to some of music’s greatest female icons, including Barbra Streisand, Marilyn Monroe, Shirley Bassey, Doris Day, Celine Dion, Tina Turner, and Rosemary Clooney. Their renditions captured the essence of each diva while adding their own flair to these classic songs.

The atmosphere was electric as the audience enthusiastically participated, singing along to familiar tunes and dancing throughout the night. The venue’s disco lights caught the performers’ sequins and stage decorations, creating a sparkling wonderland that enhanced the festive mood.

Adding to the evening’s indulgence were the spectacular grazing platters meticulously prepared by Chefs Dave and Amber. These culinary masterpieces featured an artful arrangement of local cheeses, charcuterie, fresh fruits, and handcrafted delicacies that were as visually stunning as they were delicious. Attendees were seen returning for seconds and thirds throughout the evening, with many commenting that the gourmet spread was worthy of its own standing ovation. The chefs’ attention to detail perfectly complemented the glamour of the performance, elevating the entire experience to a feast for all senses.

A highlight of the evening came when special guest Ilana Jacobs graced the stage, delivering a breath-taking performance of “Quando me’n vo'” from Puccini’s “La Boheme.” The audience was clearly moved by her powerful operatic talent. The surprise continued as Jacobs was joined by Teignmouth’s own musical legend, Viv Wilson, who provided exquisite piano accompaniment for a touching rendition of “La Vie en Rose.”

After the intermission, the second half of the show ramped up the glamour factor with even more glitter, party poppers, and disco favourites that kept the energy high. A particularly entertaining segment featured the “Diva-Off” competition, where Sharon and Sisi vied for their rightful place in what the hosts called the “Hall of Fabulousness,” much to the delight of the audience.

The evening concluded with a heartwarming group sing-along of “Que Sera, Sera,” bringing performers and audience together in a fitting finale to a night of musical celebration.

Beyond providing stellar entertainment, the event served a meaningful purpose, successfully raising £1,039.70 for the Alice Cross Centre. This impressive contribution demonstrates both the generousity of those in attendance and the community’s strong support for the Centre.

Based on the enthusiastic reception, sold-out attendance, and fundraising success, “Diva Fever” proved to be a resounding triumph that left the Alice Cross Centre audience hoping for an encore performance in the near future.
