Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are at the heart of The Alice Cross Centre, and we would not be able to manage without them. We have a variety of volunteering roles available to suit your own skills and interests. We are particularly looking for help in the following areas:

Volunteer Treasurer (Trustee Role)
The Alice Cross Centre

Location: Teignmouth (hybrid / flexible attendance)

Commitment: Approx. 6–10 days per year plus Board meetings

Term: 3 years (renewable)

Remuneration: Voluntary (reasonable expenses reimbursed)

About The Alice Cross Centre

The Alice Cross Centre is a well-established community charity dedicated to improving health, wellbeing and social connection. We deliver activities across food, community connection, movement and mental wellbeing.

The Role

The Treasurer is the Board’s lead on strategic financial matters and plays a vital role in ensuring robust financial governance and long-term sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead on financial strategy and governance

• Advise the Board on financial performance, risks and variances

• Support statutory compliance with Charity Commission and Companies House

• Support preparation of annual accounts and liaise with auditors

• Write and present the Treasurer’s Report at the AGM

• Lead a mid-year financial review

• Support annual budgeting and medium-term financial planning

• Oversee investments and reserves in line with policy

• Provide financial advice to the General Manager

About You

• Financial or accounting experience

• Ability to interpret and explain financial information

• Understanding of charity governance or willingness to learn

• Commitment to the charity’s mission and values

New Learning Disability Friendship Group @ The Alice Cross Centre

Make a difference in our community!

The Alice Cross Centre, in collaboration with Teign CVS is excited to launch a new Learning Disability Friendship Group starting Saturday, June 28th and we need YOUR help!

What’s involved?

Help create a welcoming, inclusive environment.

Support participants in activities and conversations

Just 2 hours of your time monthly (1pm-3pm on the last Saturday of each month)

Don’t worry if you have no experience!

Disability Confidence Training Provided (10-11.30am Thurs 29th May and 10-11.30am Thurs 17th July, ONLINE)

Safeguarding Training provided (Inhouse)

Ongoing support available

Fundraisers – We are currently seeking volunteer fundraisers.

Are you passionate about your community and wish to contribute positively? We are looking for Volunteer fundraisers to join our team and help us raise vital funds for The Alice Cross Centre.

From organising raffles, cake sales and special events, to grant writing and introducing us to or seeking out new fundraising partners, we have a fundraising role for you!

We can offer our volunteers:

Meal Delivery Drivers – We are currently seeking a volunteer meal delivery driver for our Monday lunchtime delivery service.

Do you have a drivers licence and your own car? Are you passionate about your community and wish to contribute positively?

The Alice Cross Centre delivers hot meals to vulnerable people in Teignmouth. We cannot provide this valuable service without the help from volunteers.

As a meal delivery driver you will collect the meals from the centre and distribute them in your car to a small number of people on a set delivery route within Teignmouth. A DBS check will be carried out by the Alice Cross Centre. A mileage rate of 45p per mile will be paid on receipt of a completed mileage form.

Full training will be provided.

We deliver meals on a Monday, Thursday, Friday and every other Sunday. We are particularly looking for help on a Monday Lunchtime and/or on an ad-hoc basis.

Craft Club Facilitator – We are looking for someone who loves to craft, who would be willing to take the lead in running a weekly craft club.
