Our Chinese Dragon-Making Extravaganza Was a Roaring Success!
We have really enjoyed working with community artist Sam Lock to produce an incredible, vibrant, 23 metre dragon through our free community float making workshops. Our community came together to design and build this unique Chinese Dragon inspired community float and lanterns for The Alice, representing our shared spirit. Did you see our dragon tribute at Teignmouth Flower Festival last week? We have had so many amazing comments about how colourful, vibrant and creative our entry was and people cannot wait to see the big dragon in August!
Throughout our workshops in April (3rd, 10th and 24th), May (8th, 15th and 22nd), and June (5th, 12th, and 26th), our community members of all abilities and ages joined together from 1.30 – 4.30 pm to help shape this exciting community project. Each workshop was free of charge with light refreshments provided.
We cannot wait to debut the dragon at Dawlish Celebrates Carnival on Friday the 15th of August! This magnificent creation will be featured as the grand finale float in the 2025 Dawlish Carnival, bringing a touch of festivity to our everyday spaces in this joyous event, with everyone invited to walk the dragon!
