Big Green Week Guided Walks
Join us for two special guided walks as part of Big Green Week and discover Teignmouth’s rich heritage, beautiful green spaces, and inspiring stories. Both walks are led by knowledgeable local guide, Neil Howell, and offer a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, connect with nature, and learn something new along the way.
Teignmouth in Verse
Date: Thursday 11th of June
Meet: Teignmouth Pier at 6.15pm for a 6.30pm start
Experience Teignmouth through the eyes of poets past and present on this unique literary walk. Beginning at the Pier and following the coastline from The Point to Sprey Point, you’ll hear a selection of poems inspired by our town, sea, and landscape.
Featuring works by celebrated poets including John Keats, Charles Causley and many others, this gentle guided walk combines literature, local history and stunning coastal views. Take time to appreciate our natural environment, nourish your mind, and see Teignmouth from a fresh perspective.
Suitable for all ages and abilities. Please wear appropriate footwear and clothing for the weather.
A Victorian Green Space
Date: Friday 12th of June
Meet: The Old Chapel, Teignmouth Old Cemetery, at 6.15pm for a 6.30pm start
Discover one of Teignmouth’s hidden gems with a fascinating guided walk around the 12 acres of Teignmouth Old Cemetery. Learn about the Victorian movement that championed the creation of public green spaces and explore the history of this peaceful and beautiful site.
Along the way you’ll hear stories of some of the remarkable Teignmouth residents buried here, uncover local history, and gain a new appreciation for this important wildlife habitat and heritage asset.
Parking is available on Buckeridge Road. Please wear suitable footwear as some paths may be uneven.
Booking Information
Both walks are free to attend, and there is no need to book. Donations to the Alice Cross Centre would be most welcome.
