Teignmouth, You Were SPOOKTACULAR! What a Day at Our First Scarecrow Festival!

Teignmouth, You Were SPOOKTACULAR! What a Day at Our First Scarecrow Festival!

Saturday 31st October saw Teignmouth come alive for its very first Scarecrow Festival, and WOW, what a day it was!

The streets were buzzing, the costumes were fabulous, the community spirit was off the scale, and the atmosphere was nothing short of electric!

And right in the thick of all the madness? The Alice Cross Centre, of course!

The Alice Cross team were out in force, helping lead the day’s entertainment and bringing plenty of laughter, energy and just a little bit of chaos to the town!

Our legendary Human Fruit Machine was back in action, with our wonderful volunteers doing what they do best – making people laugh while raising money for a brilliant cause.

Our ever-popular gift bags and homemade preserves stall was a hit, while street games brought out everyone’s competitive side.

And because we don’t believe in doing anything by halves, we threw in some Zumba, dancing and plenty of music for good measure!

Who needs a gym when you can dance your way around Teignmouth dressed as a witch?

Speaking of witches… the fabulous Witches of Waterloo Street were casting their spell over the town all day!

With their fantastic dancing, infectious energy and wicked sense of fun, they certainly kept everyone entertained.

Meanwhile, over at The Makery, Sam was busy working his pumpkin-carving magic, creating some seriously impressive Halloween masterpieces.

Our wonderful local traders also got into the spirit, battling it out in a fiercely competitive Pumpkin Pie-Off. There was plenty of friendly rivalry, delicious treats and, naturally, a little mulled wine to wash it all down.

Well, it would have been rude not to!

And just when we thought the day couldn’t get any better, Teignmouth came together for a spectacular town-wide Time Warp!

Yes, you read that right!

The streets were filled with people dancing, laughing and throwing themselves into the spirit of the occasion.

It was one of those magical moments when you look around and realise just how wonderful our little town really is.

Different generations, local businesses, community groups, volunteers, families and friends – all coming together for one enormous celebration.

And that, right there, is what community is all about.

£604 Raised for Two Wonderful Community Causes!

As if all that fun wasn’t enough, the day also raised some fantastic funds!

  • £502 raised for The Alice Cross Centre
  • £102 raised through collections for The Makery

That’s a whopping £604 for two local community organisations!

Every penny makes a difference, helping us continue to bring people together, support our community and create more opportunities for friendship, fun and connection.

A Great Big Alice Cross THANK YOU!

We couldn’t possibly finish without saying an enormous THANK YOU to everyone who made the day so special.

To Teignmouth Trade and Commerce, the fabulous local traders, Teignmouth Bakehouse, Sam and the team at The Makery, the wonderful Witches of Waterloo Street, all the performers, organisers and supporters – you were absolutely brilliant!

And to our incredible Alice Cross volunteers – what can we say?

You turned up, dressed up, set up, packed up, danced, laughed, sold, collected, entertained and gave your all. Your enthusiasm, kindness and willingness to get stuck into absolutely anything (however ridiculous!) never cease to amaze us.

You are the heart of The Alice Cross Centre, and we couldn’t do any of this without you.

Finally, to every single person who came along, bought a gift bag, played our games, donated, danced, cheered or simply soaked up the atmosphere – THANK YOU!

You made the first Teignmouth Scarecrow Festival something truly special.

We’ve always said that a strong community is built on people coming together, supporting one another and having a good laugh along the way.

And on Saturday, Teignmouth proved exactly that.

Same time next year, anyone?

Because if this was year one, goodness knows what we’ll get up to next time!

From all of us at The Alice Cross Centre – thank you, Teignmouth. You were simply BOO-TIFUL! 🎃
