Yesterday marked the exciting launch of Alice Cros Centres’ “Walk a Mile a Day in May” challenge, raising vital funds for our Safety First campaign. Fourteen intrepid walkers gathered at Teignmouth Pier, ready to embark on our inaugural guided walk along the stunning seafront.

Enjoying the incredible sunny and warm weather, spirits were high as our group made its way along the historic seawall towards Sprey Point. The route offered breath-taking views of the coastline, with waves gently lapping against the shore and seabirds soaring overhead.
A special moment came when we paused at “Dorothy’s Diamonds” and following tradition, each walker took a moment to make a silent wish before we continued our journey.

Our walk was enriched by local folklore as we shared the legendary tale of the Parson and the Clerk, and marvelled at the mysterious Devil’s Footprint – stories that connect us to the rich history of this beautiful coastal town.
After reaching Sprey Point, we made our return journey to Teignmouth Pier, completing our mile with a sense of achievement and community spirit. Every step taken helps support our Safety First campaign, making a real difference to those who rely on our services.
We’d love for you to join our walking community! Our next guided walk (The Granite Mile) takes place next Wednesday at 6pm, meeting at Teignmouth Pier. No special equipment needed – just comfortable shoes and a willingness to support a wonderful cause while enjoying our spectacular coastline.
Walk a mile with us this May – for exercise, for community, for safety.
