Local Runner Tackles Dorset Villages Marathon to Support Vital Community Hub

Despite facing a significant setback earlier this year, local runner Sarah is preparing to lace up her shoes for the challenging Dorset Villages Marathon in support of a beloved community institution.

A Journey of Determination

Sarah’s running journey began in 2022 when she joined the Teignbridge Trotters, originally to prepare for participating in Paul Minter’s remarkable 5,000-mile round Britain challenge. What started as training for a single event quickly evolved into a passion, with Sarah becoming an enthusiastic member of the local running community.

Over the past few years, Sarah has consistently challenged herself through ambitious running events, all while supporting causes close to her heart and giving back to her local community.

Overcoming Adversity

This upcoming marathon represents more than just another race for Sarah. After suffering a significant calf injury in March that severely disrupted her training schedule, she has only recently received medical clearance to participate in what will be her second marathon.

“Being sidelined for months was incredibly frustrating,” Sarah shared. “But sometimes the biggest challenges lead to the most meaningful opportunities.”

Running for The Alice Cross Centre

To celebrate her comeback and fuel her motivation, Sarah has chosen to raise funds for The Alice Cross Centre.

The centre provides essential services and social opportunities for community members, creating a welcoming space where connections flourish and support is always available.
