Sarah Blanchard Conquers Dorset Villages Marathon for Alice Cross Centre

In an impressive display of determination and community spirit, local runner Sarah Blanchard completed the challenging Dorset Villages Marathon last Sunday, May 4th, raising an impressive £400 for the Alice Cross Centre.

The scenic but demanding route through Dorset’s picturesque countryside tested Sarah’s resolve, as she persevered through a grueling 5+ hour journey to cross the finish line. Like many marathon runners, Sarah experienced the infamous “runner’s wall” – that moment when the body seems to hit its limit – but pushed through to complete the race.

“Thank you all. I’ve been overwhelmed with love and interest about my Sunday ‘challenge’. It really was 5+ hours of effort with some intense moments,” Sarah shared after the event. “I understand the term ‘runners WALL!’ now, I definitely experienced that moment. But fortunately my phone had no signal, the moment passed.”

The weather conditions proved favorable for participants, with several seasoned marathon runners achieving impressive finishing times. For Sarah, however, the true victory was in supporting a cause close to her heart.

“The Dorset countryside and elements worked their magic for all of us on the 4th of May, as the finishing times of the more seasoned Marathon runners showed,” Sarah added. “My running for the AC was a winning decision that got me to the finish line.”

The £400 raised will directly benefit the Alice Cross Centre’s Safety First Campaign, which hopes to replace the outdated fire alarm system with a brand new one – ensuring the safety of all who use the Alice Cross. Sarah’s achievement stands as a testament to what can be accomplished through dedication and community support.

Congratulations to Sarah on this remarkable achievement, and thank you to all who supported her marathon journey through donations to this worthy cause.

A big Alice Cross Thank you!!
