Alice Cross Day 2026 | Community Event in Teignmouth | The Alice Cross Centre

🎩🐇 We’re all a little mad here… and what a wonderfully mad day it was! 🌸☀️

Last Saturday, The Alice Cross Centre tumbled headfirst down the rabbit hole for a truly magical Alice Cross Day , and despite the soaring temperatures, so many of you came along to celebrate with us. Thank you!

The day began with the irresistible aroma of Dave’s famous Full English breakfasts, keeping everyone fuelled for a busy morning.

As the sun climbed higher, so did the temperature inside the centre, but that didn’t stop our amazing Zumba Gold ladies from putting on a fantastic demonstration. By 11am we were all glowing (and perspiring rather enthusiastically!), but the music, smiles and dancing made it completely worthwhile. It was wonderful to see so many people joining in and having fun. If you’ve been thinking about giving it a try, Zumba Gold takes place every Wednesday from 9.30am–10.15am, and new members are always welcome.

Next came Sheila’s brilliant Seated Exercise demonstration, with lots of people taking part and discovering that keeping active can be fun, whatever your ability. Sheila’s class runs every Monday at 2pm, and we’d love to welcome even more new faces.

Then, as if by magic, the centre transformed into a scene straight from Wonderland. Mad Hatters, White Rabbits, flamingos, giant playing cards, beautiful floral displays and every whimsical detail imaginable turned The Alice Cross Centre into a place where imagination came to life.

Our guests enjoyed delicious cream teas, with wonderful scones generously donated by Teignmouth Bakehouse (served the proper Devon way, of course!) alongside a spectacular selection of homemade cakes lovingly baked by our incredible volunteers.

Throughout the afternoon, The Teigns kept the atmosphere buzzing with fantastic live music, creating the perfect soundtrack to a joyful celebration of everything that makes The Alice Cross Centre so special.

We were especially delighted to welcome Mayor Lilly Chasteau and her mum, Donna. It means so much to have the support and recognition of our Mayor, and we are incredibly grateful that The Alice Cross Centre has been chosen as one of her charities this year.

Peta’s gave everyone a short welcome speech, followed by a reading of “You Are Old, Father William.” The poem’s warmth, humour and celebration of growing older couldn’t have been more fitting for the spirit of The Alice Cross Centre and the wonderful people who fill it with life every single day.

The whole day was joyful, welcoming, full of laughter and friendship, which is everything that The Alice Cross Centre stands for.

Finally the biggest thank you goes to our extraordinary volunteers and staff. Events like this simply wouldn’t happen without your energy, creativity, kindness and countless hours of hard work. You truly are the heart of our community.

🌼 Our adventures don’t stop here!

Join us this Saturday 18th July, 2pm–4pm, at 9 The Rowdens, TQ14 8TT, Teignmouth, for our Charity Open Gardens. Enjoy beautiful gardens, live music from Hooligans Rule, Pimms, strawberries, cream teas and plenty of homemade cake in support of The Alice Cross Centre.

We can’t wait to see you there… because, after all, the best people usually are a little mad. 💙♠️♥️♣️♦️
