We are thrilled to be recognised for our work in the Teignmouth Town Council Mayor’s annual awards on March 7th.
Our meal delivery volunteer team won a Community Champions Award for their hard work delivering hot meals to people around Teignmouth. This was great recognition for our small dedicated team who deliver year round, whatever the weather. Thanks and well done to: Eileen, Jacqueline, Lorraine, Gill, Helen, Deryk, Paul, Gill, Susie, Gill, Carol, Jane, Lizzie, Sara and Lyndon. Geoff our Saturday breakfast cook also won a recognition award. Our General Manager Peta was also recognised for her work at the centre.

Our volunteer cook, Geoff, received an award for our popular Saturday Breakfast. Below is a picture of him receiving his award from our Mayor Cate Williams:

We are very pleased to report that our General Manager Peta Howell received not one but two awards for her long service to the Alice. She has been supporting the centre for ten years, initially as a volunteer and latterly in other roles, and now as our General Manager. Peta won the Mayor’s Choice award for her “Unwavering dedication and significant contributions to the community”. You can see the award certificate below, it also notes her role in making our Centre a beacon of hope and a thriving community hub.
Peta also won a Mayor’s award for Individual Excellence, which was unexpected and quite a thrill. Our staff and volunteers are very pleased to see our dynamic leader receive this wonderful recognition from the Town Council.
When we asked Peta how she felt about receiving these awards she said “I was deeply humbled to be nominated for the Mayor’s Award for Individual Excellence by Viv Wilson. I was really thrilled and surprised to receive a special Mayor’s Choice Award, which was such an honour given how many amazing people were being recognised that night. I’m incredibly proud of our meal delivery team and Geoff the chef for their awards as well – their recognition reinforces just how amazing the Alice Cross Centre truly is. After navigating through some tough months recently, it felt even more special that we were honoured in this way.”
Our thanks of course to Teignmouth Town Council’s ongoing support of our services for local community. Knowing they recognise our aims and achievements is hugely encouraging. Funding for our operational costs and service delivery can be difficult in the current climate. Awards like this also help us prove our effectiveness and community benefit to potential funders and donors.
