Thank you Grief Support!

Thank you Grief Support!

The Alice Cross Centre is home to an amazing, award winning Grief Support group who meet here on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each Month. The group is facilitated by a brilliant team of volunteers – Ann, Jane, Gill, Pauline and Debs. The group is a lifeline to many people who are struggling through the tough process of grief.

This group of dedicated volunteers were recently recognised for their hard work by Teignmouth Mayor (2023-2024) Joan Atkins, at an award ceremony at Bitton House. Congratulations to them all and thank you for your continued support!

Twinning of the Toilets

This group not only support each other, they have extended their kindness to support others around the world. The group has now raised enough money through collections to Twin our toilets with toilets in Pakistan, Nepal and most recently, Zimbabwe.

Toilet Twinning is a joint Venture between Non-Governmental Organisations – Tearfund and Cord and the scheme has been running since 2015. The idea is that you Twin your toilet with a Toilet in a Global marginalised community. These toilets are often very remote and in areas where where governments do not provide adequate water and sanitation.

Currently, 3.5 billion people lack access to safely managed sanitation, and around 2 billion people worldwide are without access to safely managed drinking water. This exposes them to the contamination of water supplies, and the risk of diarrhoea and other diseases. 1,000 children die every day from diseases related to poor sanitation, unhealthy hygiene or unsafe drinking water. By twinning your toilet, you are transforming lives by helping communities to get sustainable access to secure sanitation services and clean water, and practise healthy hygiene.” Toilet Twinning

Next time you come in to the centre and use our facilities, look out for the photos on the wall and see the Twinned Toilets for yourself!
