Our Brew & Chat group visit the Newton Abbot Museum

Our Brew and Chat men’s group visited the Newton Abbot Museum last week. The welcoming staff gave us an extensive tour of the museum, historian Tess Walker told us about the history of the town and it’s industry. They have an excellent display of Railway history, for anyone interested in trains. The building itself was St Leonards Church, now named Newton Place, it is a listed building dating back to 1835 with some original features. Our group found the visit hugely enjoyable, and thanked staff, Kate and Tess for their warm welcome, and of course the tea and biscuits. The museum’s website is here: Newton Abbot Museum website The museum is free to enter and open Tuesday to Saturday.

The Brew and Chat group will plan other local trips out in the coming year. Our volunteer facilitator Will said “Our group is fairly new, and trips like this are a great shared experience for everyone, helping us all appreciate the amazing local history in our midst. The museum staff were very knowledgeable, their enthusiasm for and the exhibits and the local area was very evident.”
